Therapy is about you. Therapy usually starts when you face an emotional issue you find you cannot handle on your own. An abundance of changes, often difficult changes, happen as we age; we can lose our footing.
The Therapist’s Job
Therapy can help you deal with change and loss. Therapy can also help you find the compelling vision that inspires you beyond those things that have sidetracked you. No matter how late in life you come to me we can work to develop new dreams, new hope and peace of mind. I can encourage you to see how your abilities make you uniquely qualified to do what you desire to do. Together we can reinforce what is learned and I will stand by you and encourage you through those first steps until you can achieve what you wish without assistance.
The relationship between therapist and you is primary; it must be built on trust.
My view of you is always as a strong whole human being able to tackle your own difficulties, but with the probability that success will come a little faster with some support. If you are willing to share intimate problems and face yourself honestly you are by definition a courageous person deserving of respect and headed toward a positive outcome.
If we decide to work together I work for you just as surely as an architect or accountant works for you. Together we put things in motion that will help you achieve the outcome you desire.
Having received my MSW from Rutgers University I began practicing both group and individual psychotherapy in 2007. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker(LCSW), Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor(LCADC), have studied Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science, and have additional competencies in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy and Gerontology. Working in a hospital for over ten years has given me experience with clients of all races, nationalities, ethnicities, sexual preferences and ages.
Before becoming a therapist I had a successful career in the corporate sector. I have traveled widely both for business and pleasure and love learning new customs, trying new foods and meeting as wide a variety of people as possible. I love what I do for a living and I bring that passion to each and every client.
